Pregnancy massage therapy can be performed 12 weeks after conception. Pregnancy massage has similar benefits of regular massage by relaxing tense muscles, easing sore spots, improving circulation and mobility and generally just makes you feel good.
The body's centre of gravity changes during pregnancy causing more stress in your back, neck, abdominal muscles and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, meaning your pelvic joints are less stable; it also changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward. Add to that the extra weight you're carrying you may end up with lower back pain or discomfort.
I can customise the Pregnancy Massage to your needs. Tell me where you would like extra attention e.g.: neck & shoulders, arms, thighs, calves or the lower back and I will work longer in those areas. It is a top to toe relaxation treatment.
I will moisturise the skin with massage oil and perform various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually break up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues known as adhesions. I normally use plain organic Grapeseed oil for the pregnancy massage. I can also prepare a special blend with essential oils especially blended for you. However, a few essential oils are not allowed during pregnancy.
Pregnancy massage is best performed laying on your side with the help pillows, wedges, or a full-length body pillow for support.
Treatment can last 60 minutes or 90 minutes, depending on your needs or goals.
